Course Description
The Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) 20 hour Online Course for Mother Baby Friendly Accreditation is a two part course (lecture and hands-on skills training) that fulfils the training requirement for BFHI accreditation. It is based
on the principles of the Ten Steps of Successful Breastfeeding from WHO/UNICEF.
The online part, consists of online lectures which can be done at the students own time and pace. Once a student is finished with the online lectures, he or she is encouraged to schedule for hands-on skills training. Hands-on
lactation training is done quarterly by the Section of Lactation of The Medical City. Students can contact the TMC Section of Lactation at 988-1000 for scheduling. Certificates of completion will be awarded after the course.
